UHSM Academy Library

How to join

All UHSM staff, MMHSCT staff, students on placement and University of Manchester staff based at UHSM can register to use the Library. You are also entitled to join if you work at a Trust which is part of the Greater Manchester Health Libraries Partnership.

To register:

1. Read the Library Regulations

2. Click here: then, on the webpage that opens, look to the the top right of the page and click on the same register link.

3. Once the form is complete you will receive a welcome email plus another email from which you can create a password to access your library account, renew your loans and make reservations.

4. Please make sure we link your UHSM ID badge to your Library account as this will allow you to use the self-service facilities to borrow and return items 24/7.

You may borrow up to 10 books plus an unlimited number of books/DVDs from our Fiction, Books to Inspire and Health & Wellbeing collections.

The loan period is 4 weeks.

Fines are charged on overdue items at a rate of 20p per day.

Borrowed items can be renewed by accessing your personal online library account. Please contact us for your login details. You can also renew via the Library mobile app, in person, by telephone (0161 291 5778) or by email. You can renew up to a maximum of 3 times after which time you will have to return your items to the library. The items can then be re-issued to you provided they have not been reserved by another library user.

How the Academy Library will use your personal information.

The Library processes all personal information you supply to us in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. The Library Team records your personal data on to the online Library Management System for the operations, enabling the retrieving and borrowing of library items. The Library Team will keep your personal details for statistical purposes for a period of 3 years after inactive use of the Library.
In the event of breaches in the Library regulations, the Library Team will share your personal information with UHSM, the Institution or Academic body that entitles you to use this Library, your new employer or any NHS Library for the purposes of recovering the items, obtaining payment for their replacement and/or disciplinary procedures only.
